Members’ Show Guide – Welcome to the ACACA

Since 1980 the Alberta Community Art Clubs Association has annually sponsored three regional Zone Shows, AB Wide Show and the Best of the Best Show for their members.

The purpose of this guide is to allow members to become familiar with the eligibility and show regulations adopted by the ACACA.

The ACACA and the Hosting Clubs sincerely appreciate the co-operation of all members to adhere to these regulations and guidelines. This ensures that the undertaking of the Hosting Clubs is simplified, the high standards for the ACACA shows are maintained and a pleasurable experience is enjoyed by all.

We extend a special thank you to all the host clubs for their efforts and support on behalf of our members.

Incorporation Information

ACACA was INCORPORATED Under the Societies Act – June 4, 1968 – #500053301.

To foster and maintain instruction in art and to develop an interest in the knowledge of Art and Culture in the Communities throughout the Province.

To promote the Ideals and Fulfillment of the Association in a positive manner.

  1. The ACACA Newsletter is circulated to members at least four times per year.  Community Art Clubs are encouraged to submit news of their activities to share with other members of the Association.
  2. Community Art Clubs who retain membership and have hosted one or more zone shows in the last 10 years are invited to apply for ACACA grants of up to $400.00, available for Art Workshops.  Application forms may be obtained from the ACACA Treasurer or the Website at
  3. The ACACA sponsors juried art shows in each Zone annually. Art Pieces selected from the Zone Shows are then entered into the Alberta Wide Show to again receive a second chance at the jurying process there.  All Art pieces juried into the ABW Show will stay to hang in the selected Gallery for that purpose for one month.  All awarded winners will hang with the “Best of the Best” at the Alberta Spirit Show for approximately two months.
  4. ACACA members in good standing can apply for Individual Workshop Grants of $400.00 annually.

Our 50 year history

And Counting!

The Alberta Community Art Clubs Association (ACACA) is a non-profit, charitable organization founded in 1968 under the counsel of the late Professor Harry Wohlfarth from the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Extension Programs.

The ACACA is an important component for visual artists providing exhibiting, promoting networking, and fostering artistic rewards for amateur and professional artists from every corner of the province. We offer an e-newsletter 6 times a year to maintain communication with our many clubs and members; in 2018 the 50th Anniversary History book was unveiled.

The Association reaches out to painters, illustrators, sculptors, digital, fibre and multimedia artists, many who work in the isolation of smaller communities and sparsely populated regions, to invite them to take advantage of workshops, gallery exhibitions, and scholarship opportunities.

As a non-profit, charitable organization we endeavor to increase public awareness, support and appreciation for our visual art and recognition for all levels of members throughout Alberta.

Special Thanks to Our Sponsors

The Alberta Community Art Clubs Association gratefully acknowledges the ongoing financial support of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the sponsorship of CARFAC Alberta.

The fund-raising efforts of our members through regular casino events have allowed ACACA to facilitate ongoing success for our visual artists.
